A Summer Garden
A Summer GardenWith summer proper just around the garden corner, I have moved about half of my containers into a sheltered spot under the pomegranate and guava trees. These containers have spent winter in the sunny area where we set up our portable pool. Now, with hot weather ahead, I needed to find a new home for them. I love this spot with its Biblical pomegranate trees. They are starting to flower now, and their fruit will be ripe come February. The shade under the fruit trees is fairly light. I'm planning to keep my lettuce plants here along with any shade tolerant varieties. As we go deeper into summer, most plants where we live need some protection from the blazing sun. Fortunately, containers can be moved around. |
I also like to propagate plants from seed in the shade in summer as smaller containers, seed trays and pots dry out so quickly.

Moving my containers into the shade, made me realise just how much I myself need shade: The shade of trees as well as the shade and protection that God gives.
I am reminded of these words spoken by Boaz to Ruth:
Ruth 2:12 ESV
[12] The Lord repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!”

May you have a blessed week, and enjoy your garden.
