Gardeners Are Always Learning
Gardeners are always Learning
My school aged children learn something new each day, and so do I, even at my advanced age. π
Along with reading some inspiring online gardening magazines, I have also been doing a South African gardening course. I like it because it gives affordable and do-able gardening advice. It's chemical free approach is also sensible.
Thanks to the course, I have now started two mini nurseries, one with herbs, and another with veg. Both are covered, one with plastic and the other with orange bags. The idea is to have a steady supply of seedlings for your beds and containers. Before, I would do mostly direct sowing with often patchy results. From now on, I plan to only direct sow potatoes, carrots, and onions.
My mini nurseries are in my shady summer garden where there is also protection from the wind.
My spiritual take-away from my gardening adventures, is that God is always helping me to grow and to learn more about Him. Sometimes, life's path is hard, steep, and painful. Even in these places, Jesus is tenderly shepherding us and gently teaching us what we need to know.
I'm also reminded that whether in gardening, or in life, we need to implement the good and wise which we learn. It is no use if we are ever learning and being inspired but never doing.
